Description

The Karate Kid was released in the United States on the 22nd of June 1984. The martial arts drama was directed by John Avildsen who also directed Rocky, Lean on me, Save the Tiger and directed the first three Karate kid films and was written by Robert Mark Kamen which was based on his life. When Robert was 17 he was beaten up by a gang of bullies in 1964 so he then decided to learn martial arts to defend himself. The Karate Kid grossed over 130 Million dollars worldwide making it one of Hollywood’s biggest hits for 1984.
Ralph Macchio was born on the 4th of November 1961 in Huntington, New York and graduated from Half Hollow Hills Central School District in New York. Back in 2014 Ralph went on the Oprah Winfrey network and showed viewers that he still owned the original Karate Kid headband that he wore in the show. Macchio starred in Karate Kid 1, 2 and 3 and performed all his own stunts in the films.
