Why Buy a Slate Pool Table?
Every pool table in this range is built on a 3-piece 20mm precision slate bed. That's not a marketing term. It means the playing surface is cut from natural stone, precision-ground flat, and joined in three sections so it can be levelled perfectly on any floor. Over 5,000 of these tables are now installed in homes across Australia.
The reason that number matters: slate doesn't warp. MDF and particle board alternatives absorb humidity, flex under temperature changes, and develop dead spots after a few years. Stone doesn't do any of that. A slate table bought today will play the same way in 10 years.
All tables in this range ship with a full accessories pack (cues, balls, triangle, chalk and brush) and a 24-month structural warranty on the frame and slate bed. Professional installation is available at checkout, handled by our own team, not a courier.
Common Questions
What does 3-piece 20mm precision slate mean?
The playing surface is made from three slabs of natural slate, each 20mm thick. They're individually ground flat then joined and levelled during installation. A single-piece slate bed can flex during transport. Three pieces let you get it perfectly level regardless of your floor. 20mm is the thickness used in commercial clubs and tournament venues.
Is a slate pool table worth the extra cost over MDF?
If the table is going in a permanent spot and you actually want to play on it, yes. MDF beds are fine for a few years but they're sensitive to humidity and temperature. In Australian conditions, especially in a garage or outdoor entertaining area, an MDF bed will degrade noticeably faster than slate. Slate is once-off. You buy it, you keep it.
What size should I get for my room?
For a 7ft table you need a room at least 4.5m x 3.5m to play comfortably (that's with 1.4m clearance on each side for a full cue stroke). An 8ft table needs roughly 5m x 3.8m. A 9ft table needs at least 5.5m x 4m. If you're not sure, measure the room and message us with the dimensions. We'll tell you what fits.
Do you deliver and install across Australia?
Yes. Free delivery to all major cities. Professional installation is available at checkout for an additional fee. Our installation team handles the full setup including levelling the slate, not just dropping the boxes at your door. If you have 5 or more stairs we charge a small stair surcharge, which you'll see as an option at checkout.
Can these go in a garage or outdoor area?
The slate bed handles Australian conditions fine. The frame is the variable. Solid hardwood frames hold up well in temperature-stable environments. If your garage gets very hot in summer or you're putting the table in a covered outdoor area, talk to us before you order so we can point you to the right frame material.
What's included with the table?
Every slate pool table comes with a full accessories pack: cues, billiard balls, triangle, chalk and a brush. You don't need to buy anything separately to start playing. The 24-month structural warranty covers the frame and slate bed. Cloth is not covered as it's a wear item, but we can recloth tables after the fact if needed.
